RELATIVE CALM

2023 11.18—11.19

The new version of the work retains the memories of the original, reinterpreting Lucinda Childs' choreography within John Gibson's music. It also expands upon the original by adding two new dances inspired by John Adams' “Light Over Water”and Igor Stravinsky's "Pulcinella suite", forming a “Triptych Version” As Robert Wilson stated, “The whole show, in its three symmetrical parts will be like a clock that measures time, like the succession of the hours of the day.”

The work has been praised by the media as a "cross-disciplinary new creation that skillfully integrates various art forms such as music, visual arts, theatre, and dance," It is described as a ruthless and precise painting, an inscrutable tension, and a sharp balance that hovers between silence, stillness, and power.
